What’s In The Bag 2.0
“What I Play And How I Remove Unnecessary Variables From My Game”
I get a number of questions from students and YouTube viewers about the equipment I play.
While you might not go with the exact same equipment I do, I wanted to share some information about WHY I choose to play what I play.
Hopefully, this helps you as you evaluate equipment and what will work best for your game.
Above, you’ll find an overview video, and then below, you can access the detailed explanations for each of the “equipment categories”.
Best of luck and let me know of any questions in the comments!

Hi Sam,
Really helpful info! I need to learn more about shafts (flex, type, kick response) and swing weight. Any suggested books? ALSO!!!! your videos on “lies” are great!! Very helpful!
Thanks for your commitment to teaching golf to guys like me!
Rob
You bet Rob! Thanks for all the support, questions, and comments!
Happy Golfing!
Sam, love the clubs! The Vegas look sweet! Curious about the D0 weighting…think Moe Norman and Ben Hogan played the heavier E1 weighting in the day (need to confirm) and most clubs off the shelf are D4 for us amateur mortals.
My gamers are the more commercialized titleist driver 9.5, Adams 3/5w, pro mini 23 deg hybrid, Mazuno MP4 irons (5-PW), titleist 50F, 54S, 58M wedge and older ping eye 2 putter.
For my winter practice, I often hit a wood ping eye 2 (1983), Power built 5 wood (year??), acushnet titleist (1976), Joe Power blade 2i (20 degrees), Magreggor 60 wedge /w 4 degrees bounce. Why? I figure if I can hit these with good contact, I can hit anything!
Having said that, I would trade you for your set any day;)
Haha Thanks Shonn, I play D0 for a reason that maybe doesn’t match every player but it has been refined over the last, well, lets just say my whole golf career has been a learning experience. I’ll do a quick youtube video explaining this soon.
Thanks for the questions and keep them coming.
Happy Golfing
